The endocrine system is made up of glands that make hormones that are the body's chemical messengers that carry information and instructions from one set of cells to another.
Major endocrine glands that make up the endocrine system are pituitary gland, pineal gland ,thyroid gland, ovaries and testies.
Collection of endocrine glands that compose the endocrine system not containing duct and releasing their secretions directly into the blood ciculation.
Hormones are chemical substances that serves as messenger molecules in the human body.
Their synthesis takes place in one part of the body, they travel to other parts of the body where they regulate functions of cells and organs to do their work.
For example, insulin is a hormone that is made by beta cells in the center of the pancreatic cells. When it is released into the blood they regulate how the body cells use glucose for energy consumption.
Anterior Pituitary Hormones:
- Growth hormone.
- Adrenocorticotropic Hormones.
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormones.
- Gonadotropin releasing hormones.
- Prolactin.
Posterior pituitary gland hormones:
- Anti Diuretic Hormones.
- Oxytocin.
